Things to do in Pensacola during Winter…

Welcome to our Blog! We are pleased that you have chosen us to be your relaxation destination. In this blog William and I will share not only local happenings around our area but also life in an RV. So, grab your favorite drink and let’s get going with

“He said” She said”.   “He said” Hello, this is William! You’re coming down for your winter getaway. You’ve been in the camper for weeks and want to get out! Fishing in Pensacola is a must for the avid fisherman or woman. We have everything from offshore charters to pier fishing. With the right looking shrimp or your favorite colored artificial bait, you’ll be in for the fight of your life. Red Drum, Kings, Spanish Mackerel and Speckled Trout are just a few of the species we have swimming around in these waters. Bring some warmer clothing and a valid fishing license and you’ll be ready for the fishing experience of a lifetime.

If fishing isn’t your thing and you fancy yourself a history buff, then Fort Pickens might be your thing. Completed in 1834, Fort Pickens is located on the Santa Rosa Island. The fort remained in use until 1947 and is included within the Gulf Island National Seashore which is administered by the National Park Service. On May 31st, 1972 it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. This beautiful fort is only 10 miles way from the Pensacola Beach RV Resort. There is a fee and it lasts for a week. So, if you’re interested in checking out a piece of history Fort Pickens is right up your alley.

Now, if it’s getting a little too windy and cold. The Seanger Theater is a wonderful option. Opened on April 2, 1925 located at 118 South Palafox Place in Downtown Pensacola. This beautiful theater was host to a variety of entertainment when if first opened and now host The Pensacola Orchestra as well as many other events. If you are looking for a different slice of history, I would highly recommend giving the Seanger a visit. These are my top three picks for things to do in Pensacola during the winter.

“She said” Hi this is Susan!  Get ready to explore Pensacola during the winter. Our winters are mostly mild weather but just like a short summer shower can be unpredictable. Inside activities came to mind during the winter. One of my favorite places to visit is the National Naval Museum. Located on beautiful NAS Pensacola. The Naval Museum is the world’s largest aviation museum.  Almost 350,000 square feet, over 150 restored aircraft that represents the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard Aviation. Admission is FREE!  Simulators are a low cost, a lot of fun and worth it! Grab some lunch at the Cubi Bar and Café. 1750 Radford Blvd. NAS Pensacola, 32508   After the Naval Museum visit the Pensacola Lighthouse and Maritime Museum. Built in 1859 it is the oldest lighthouse on the Gulf Coast. It reins the tallest at 150 feet. 177 steps to the top will get you amazing views of the Gulf. Don’t miss the exhibits rich with our history. Open daily 9-5. Admission is $4.00 to $8.00. Check out their website at Pensacolalighthouse.org

Another great indoor activity is watching a fast-paced game of hockey! The Pensacola Ice Flyers is a professional hockey team of the Southern Professional Hockey League. You can find their schedule on the Pensacolabaycenter.com website.  After the game hang around for some public skating time! January through March times are listed on the website along with prices. So, these are my top 3 picks for exploring Pensacola during the winter!

We hope you enjoy your January with us and check out our local happenings around Pensacola!  If you need a street legal golf cart while on the island with us, please check out Kool Breeze Karts at 850-934-0099. They are located at 50 Fort Pickens Road.
